A study in green: cucumbers, beans and jalapenos.

First harvest

Jennifer Adams July 21, 2013

The rain has stopped and the sun is shining, so suddenly the garden is taking off. Old time Mainers would recognize the beans and cucumbers, but wouldn't know what to make of the jalapenos. Soon we'll have tomatoes and more zucchini than we'll know what to do with, even though we only put in six plants. In another month we'll be canning relish and salsa. In six months, shivering in January, we will open a jar of summer memories.

a maine accent

The daughter of natives, I have lived in Maine for more than half my life. My blog will focus on Maine things, but will also probably wander off on different paths from time to time.

Mainers are quirky, independent, maybe even a little feisty. I hope to be one someday.
